چکیده

In decision analysis, difficulties of obtaining complete information about model parameters make it advisable to seek robust solutions that perform reasonably well across the full range of feasible parameter values. In this paper, we develop the Robust Portfolio Modeling (RPM) methodology which extends Preference Programming methods into portfolio problems where a subset of project proposals are funded in view of multiple evaluation criteria. We also develop an algorithm for computing all non-dominated portfolios, subject to incomplete information about criterion weights and project-specific performance levels. Based on these portfolios, we propose a project-level index to convey (i) which projects are robust choices (in the sense that they would be recommended even if further information were to be obtained) and (ii) how continued activities in preference elicitation should be focused. The RPM methodology is illustrated with an application using real data on road pavement projects. 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

A new framework for high-technology project evaluation and project portfolio selection based on Pythagorean fuzzy WASPAS, MOORA and mathematical modeling

High-technology projects are known as tools that help achieving productive forces through scientific and technological knowledge. These knowledge-based projects are associated with high levels of risks and returns. The process of high-technology project and project portfolio selection has technical complexities and uncertainties. This paper presents a novel two-parted method of high-technology ...

Primal and dual robust counterparts of uncertain linear programs: an application to portfolio selection

This paper proposes a family of robust counterpart for uncertain linear programs (LP) which is obtained for a general definition of the uncertainty region. The relationship between uncertainty sets using norm bod-ies and their corresponding robust counterparts defined by dual norms is presented. Those properties lead us to characterize primal and dual robust counterparts. The researchers show t...

A Comprehensive Model for R and D Project Portfolio Selection with Zero-One Linear Goal-Programming (RESEARCH NOTE)

Technology centered organizations must be able to identify promising new products or process improvements at an early stage so that the necessary resources can be allocated to those activities. It is essential to invest in targeted research and development (R and D) projects as opposed to a wide range of ideas so that resources can be focused on successful outcomes. The selection of the most ap...

A new method for solving fuzzy multi-objective linear programming problems

The purpose of this paper is to develop a new two-stage method for fuzzy multi-objective linear program and apply to engineering project portfolio selection. In the fuzzy multi-objective linear program, all the objective coefficients, technological coefficients and resources are trapezoidal fuzzy numbers (TrFNs). An order relationship for TrFNs is introduced by using the interval expectation of...
